Reflect on the main components of textiles: weaved, knitted, knotted, felted, among others.

How their components stay together? How do they have a certain flexibility?

We interlaced the self-made material with laser-reflecting silver paper and a matte translucent material. We use a good pattern to weave the two materials together into strips. Admittedly, the effect is not that ideal when we try to use the black rope to wrap things together. Later, we found out that it was a wrong decision to add the third material, black rope, which destroyed the balance of the light color pattern. We should stick to the original two materials. Meanwhile, if possible, we should try to spread the two fabrics out rather than rolling them into strips since this weakens some of their original inherent properties, such as translucent materials after twisting will appear very solid, losing the original fairy-like temperament.

Another experiment with textile came when we saw these IMA badges while hanging out at studio. It reminded me of a fan behavior in the ACG goods culture: itabag, i.e. arranging the badges and acrylics of one's favorite characters in a bag with a transparent cover. This has spawned an interesting civilization while condensing a walking window.

We tried to string the IMA badges with a rope, but didn't have time to explore how to tie wise knots so they don't move around. Unlike pinning the badges directly to a flat surface, this way of weaving them together would allow them to form a textile, an expression of identity or fondness that could move with the body or even make a sound. Marcela seemed to find it interesting and told us that studio has a machine for making these badges (I think it's a machine that presses together paper, film, backing, and iron lid, which I've always kind of wanted to buy) and could make more of these.
